FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HOUSTON – The Energy Workforce & Technology Council applauds the House passage of H.R. 1949, the “Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act,” by Rep. August Pfluger. The legislation repeals outdated import and export restrictions under the Natural Gas Act and shifts full approval authority for LNG facility siting, construction, and operation from the Department of Energy to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
This commonsense fix restores a predictable review process, strengthens U.S. energy security, and positions America to remain the global leader in LNG production and exports.
“America should not be tying its own hands when the world is demanding more reliable American energy,” said EWTC President Tim Tarpley. “This bill cuts out needless bureaucracy, strengthens our LNG leadership, and gives operators the clarity they need to build, invest, and compete. American LNG is a win for the US and a win for our allies abroad. The Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act is a smart, straightforward step that keeps American energy moving forward.”
The legislation clears the bottlenecks holding back critical LNG projects and supports the entire supply chain that makes them possible. EWTC urges the Senate to move quickly. America’s energy workforce is ready to get these projects off the sidelines and into the field.
