Energy Workforce President Molly Determan recently joined Reuters’ Energy LIVE 2025 conference as a moderator for the AI & IoT at the Edge: Revolutionizing the Power of Real Time Data panel.
Taking the stage with Alex Chandy, VP Technology, Group CIO, Engie, Amanda Ahrens, Business Intelligence Leader, Dow, and Stephan Blasilli, Head of Business Process Excellence, EDP, Determan led the conversation on key topics centered on how AI and digital technologies are reshaping the industry.
Panelists explored how organizations are integrating AI to improve decision-making and create more connected, streamlined operations across the sector, ultimately boosting efficiency and reducing costs.
While AI and the new wave of digital transformation are driving improvements in day-to-day functions, scaling challenges remain a reality. Panelists agreed that practical steps, such as building shared definitions and curated datasets, may help insights be transferable across teams without slowing decision-making.
Looking ahead, Determan closed the panel with a forward-looking discussion, asking panelists to weigh in on which digital tool between edge AI, centralized data platforms, or process integration might come out on top over the next three years. While responses varied, one thing was clear: in the rapidly evolving world of AI, three years is a long time to place bets, and the landscape can shift dramatically.
