Industry professionals recently gathered for the Leadership Forum with Advisory Board Member Rutger Niers, President & CEO, Ideal Completion Services.
Niers discussed what effective leadership looks like across different stages of a business, touching on topics such as aligning your leadership style with your career goals and recognizing whether your current organization supports the development you are seeking.
“Finding a fit within your organization is key to proper alignment in your career,” Niers shared, emphasizing the importance of being intentional with each step you take toward your goals.
He highlighted the leadership qualities that help someone stand out and embody what it means to be a leader, including honesty, integrity and a strong drive to grow both personally and professionally.
“Take a look at what stage your company is at and what you are looking for as a leader in your organization, and make sure that it’s matching,” shared Niers, expanding on the importance of ensuring your leadership qualities reflect what you expect from your team and organization.
Wrapping up the session, Niers highlighted two factors that can negatively impact team culture: complacency and a lack of innovation. To avoid bringing on team members who don’t elevate your culture, he emphasized setting expectations early, sharing that it’s essential to “establish the culture from the hiring process and set the example.”
Participants also had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, diving deeper into Niers’ leadership takeaways and personal journey.
The message was clear, to stay on the right career trajectory, ensure your role and organization align with where you want to go.
