The Executive Leadership Program: Helping Clients Succeed held its third session last week at Solaris in Houston. The program allows participants to acquire the skills and tools necessary to establish robust partnerships and excel in their roles. Michael Lespinasse from Franklin Covey facilitated the event.
The third session of the year-long hybrid program focused on enhancing approaches to negotiation and leadership, providing participants with the opportunity to refine their practices and apply new strategies in real-world scenarios. They discussed the challenges of negotiating within their roles. They were able to utilize the tools and resources provided by Franklin Covey to put what they learned into practice.
Participants were allowed to collaborate and share their perspectives on how to complete a negotiation plan, as well as discuss ways to set ambitious yet realistic targets. Breakouts were held throughout the day, allowing participants to demonstrate their new skills, specifically in exchanging value and honestly acknowledging, understanding, and resolving client needs.
The day concluded with participants sharing feedback on the tools they had used throughout the day and providing key takeaways. One participant shared, “I have learned how imperative it is to be prepared when going into these conversations, covering your bases and being able to answer questions that may be difficult, but being able to provide the best answer to show the customer they’ve been heard.”
Someone else responded, “One of the biggest mindset shifts for me is going to be focusing on drafting and detailing an opening statement. I have also recognized that I need to slow down and glean a full understanding of what the client perspective is, rather than jumping into solving their problems from the start.”
In addition to the seminars for these year-long programs, participants engage in leadership development activities outside their company. They also attend at least two Energy Workforce leadership meetings, such as leadership forums, where participants engage and network with energy leaders from across the industry. The program includes executive coaching from Heidrick & Struggles as well as valuable mentorship from members of the Energy Workforce’s Board of Directors and Advisory Board. This provides participants with a unique opportunity for strategic career advice and the chance to develop relationships with industry leaders.
