Energy Workforce & Technology Council Congratulates Former CEO Leslie Beyer on Senate Confirmation as Assistant Secretary of the Interior

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOUSTON- The Energy Workforce & Technology Council (EWTC) is proud to congratulate former CEO Leslie Beyer on her confirmation by the U.S. Senate as Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management at the U.S. Department of the Interior. Leslie previously led EWTC from 2014 to 2023.

Serving under Secretary Doug Burgum, Assistant Secretary Beyer will now oversee four departmental agencies: the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), and the Office of Surface Mining, Reclamation and Enforcement. Assistant Secretary Beyer will also guide the use of about 245 million acres of federal surface lands, 700 million acres of federal mineral interests and the 1.7 billion-acre Outer Continental Shelf.

On May 8, 2025, the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee voted to advance her nomination with a favorable recommendation. Today, her nomination was confirmed by the Senate.

As EWTC CEO, Beyer championed policies supporting energy services, workforce development, and American energy dominance. Her tenure helped cultivate deep collaboration across industry, regulators, and policymakers. Her public service prior to EWTC includes roles on Capitol Hill, within multiple presidential administrations, the U.S. State Department, and HUD.

EWTC leadership congratulated Beyer, stating:

“Leslie brings a rare combination of political acumen and operations insight that’s critically needed at Interior. She understands the stakes for American energy, and she knows how to drive real outcomes in Washington. Under Secretary Bergum, she’s uniquely positioned to champion balanced policies that support both responsible resource development and economic growth. I’m very proud to see Leslie in this role,” said Energy Workforce President Molly Determan.

“Leslie’s deep understanding of the regulatory landscape and her ability to bridge industry priorities with smart, effective policy made her a force to be reckoned with during her time at EWTC. Her leadership shaped critical conversations on permitting, public lands access, and workforce development. I have no doubt she’ll bring that same policy depth and strategic thinking to the Department of the Interior,” said Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley.

EWTC looks forward to continued collaboration with Assistant Secretary Beyer and DOI leadership to advance pragmatic, responsible resource development that strengthens energy security and economic growth.
