Industry leaders and professionals recently gathered for the annual Executive Address, featuring Energy Workforce Board Chair Sam Sledge, CEO & Director, ProPetro Services.
The Executive Address offers members a valuable opportunity to network with peers and hear directly from Energy Workforce’s current Board Chair.
The afternoon began with Molly Determan, President, Energy Workforce, who shared the organization’s mission and set the stage for Sledge’s remarks, followed by Bryan Clements, Strategy Manager at Caterpillar and Emerging Executives Committee Member, who provided a brief overview of Sam’s background.
Focusing on his leadership and career journey, Sledge reflected on the personal experiences and influences that have shaped his leadership mindset and style, noting that his time at ProPetro has been one of the most formative periods of his career.
Sledge spoke about the importance of self-awareness, sharing that one of his key lessons has been learning to turn off “auto-pilot” in order to respond more effectively to the challenges that come with leadership.
He also emphasized the value of self-improvement over comparison, encouraging leaders to stay focused on growth.
“Being curious is constantly seeking and asking questions on new things or things you already know,” Sledge said, emphasizing that real impact comes from knowing your values and doing the hard things that drive improvement.
To close out the address, Sam reminded the audience that leadership often bleeds into one’s influence on their teams and personal relationships.
Following the address was an evening of friendly competition at the Topgolf bays.
