Helping Clients Succeed Program Wraps with Focus on Time Management

EWTC’s year-long Helping Clients Succeed program, developed in partnership with Franklin Covey, wrapped last week with a full-day session focused on time management and productivity. The program helped participants strengthen their sales approach while building more effective, long-term client relationships.

Led by Cris Lang, Senior Consultant at Franklin Covey, the session centered on managing priorities rather than simply managing time. Discussions addressed common challenges such as unproductive meetings, outdated processes, and constant email notifications, with participants sharing real-world examples from their own roles. Attendees were introduced to practical tools for identifying priorities, breaking inefficient habits, and focusing effort where it matters most.

Participants also worked in breakout groups to assess their current roles, identify gaps, and discuss strategies for improving performance. The exercise encouraged participants to clarify responsibilities, evaluate how they spend their time today, and define what success looks like in their roles.

Goal-setting and planning were key themes throughout the day. Cris covered effective scheduling, prioritization, and the difference between urgent and important work, helping participants identify “must-dos” and commit to consistent daily and weekly planning practices.

The session also addressed the impact of technology on productivity. Participants discussed how constant connectivity and screen time can become distractions, and shared practical ways to manage email, notifications, and digital overload.

The day concluded with a discussion on building a personalized, mobile time-management system that supports focus and accountability. Participants shared key takeaways, including how clearer role definition and planning can drive better outcomes. One participant noted, “What was most impactful to me was identifying roles and crafting role statements—actually getting it down on paper and identifying how you’re going to meet your goals. That then turns into a mission statement, which is very valuable.”
